I Quit DeviantArt

Posted by CrispyToastYT - May 25th, 2023

Ya know... I have been patient with DeviantArt and I had tolerated their practices long enough. I have been using this platform for like... what, almost 15 years or so? I mainly use this to upload my art pieces as much as possible just to build up my portfolio. I wanted to show the world what I can do, even if I have been dealing with a few limitations. Not to mention that I had to endure many struggles with the platform's changes like the logo design, the layout, and other things.

But when it comes to DeviantArt endorsing AI generate images, less care about art theft, failing to live by COPPA rules, and an incompetent staff that is where I decide that enough is enough. I mean, holy mother of God, this site is a cesspool of degenerates, art thieves, beggars, and underaged users. And not that I have anything against memes and such but the majority of art pieces are just shitposts, low-effort art, and bad memes. I was expecting DeviantArt to improve just a little bit at least, but I see none of it. It has gotten worse and worse and worse.

Not to mention that if you wanted to protect your art from art thieves and NFT Assholes, you need you must subscribe to Core. That goes the same when you want to cash out money after selling commissions. Tired of ads?! Same paywall! Because - OH! How quaint - because "Capitalism is freakin' key! Woop-de-freakin' doo!"

And there are some users from this platform who are begging for free stuff. I was one of the unfortunate ones who had to deal with them saying "gimmie-free stuff because I'm self-entitled." They probably did not get the memo that artists need to make a living by selling commissions, and there are some that want to make gift art for their mutual.

I was actually reluctant to even consider leaving DeviantArt because I have a lot of connections with friends and artists alike. It is really hard for me to consider this since many artists I see are still using the platform despite many setbacks and such. But at the same time, they may be bombarded with the same degenerate userbase that wants to jerk off to fetish porn.

I know some art sites that are good alternatives. So far I think that Instagram, Pixiv, Ko-Fi, and even Newgrounds are better alternatives, and I think they do not have that much fetish art... I think? Also, ArtStation is good, but I think that place is for professionals. Although I question them for accepting AI art - which I know is a really dumb idea.

A lot of you may be wondering if I ever want to make a return to this dirty platform. My answer is... I do not know. I may not return to upload art here. But If I see any positive changes on DeviantArt, especially when they finally comply with the COPPA rules and keep the children under 13 out of the platform, then maybe I will consider it. I know I have a lot of watchers, but some of the watchers I spotted have fetish art.

Those who are asking "Are you going to delete your account over there?" Well... No. I will keep that account over there for archival purposes because deleting an account will result in committing the Streisand Effect. Plus if whatever reason I want to remake old art pieces I had to check if there is something I can improve on.

Here are the following social media platforms that I currently reside in:

Also, most of the time online I hang out on my Discord servers. So if you want to crash in and hang out, be my guest. But you gotta be 16+ or older to join in. We had a couple in the past that were younger than 16, and we had to be strict because some youngins nowadays resort to irrational decisions.

So yeah... That is all that I can write as of recently. I am sorry it has come to this but until DeviantArt can get their shit together and be more professional about their website, especially when they have little to no control over the degenerates who come for fetish art, I refuse to come back and upload my work.

Yeah, I'm glad that I left DeviantArt when the AI generator shit just announced. It's sad how the site has evolved so terribly. DA's such a downgrade...

As much as I would personally love for you to post more on NG here (the website I’m personally most comfortable with), you’d be quite disappointed if you think this notoriously-NSFW site is devoid of fetish art, though thankfully it seems so few fetish posts here are competently made here compared to DA that it will likely turn people AWAY from their personal kinks. Plus it seems like Twitter is a DA-lite anyway when you turn off the sensitive content settings, yet it seems like you are at least fine with that site (for now…), so maybe just every site outside of DeviantArt is capable of separating the normies from the degenerates. When it comes to posting art on social media, you just kind of have to pick your poison, unfortunately.

Good call on ditching DeviantArt, heard that place is simply awful and filled with the grossest stuff for any fandom I'm in.

Newgrounds/tom fulp treat you better anyway

Good call, especially with these underage people making fetish art for no reason.

agreed, twitter just shot its own golden calf/egalitarian charn

ppl make the world, logging in doesnt

art is its own reason...

there is no beauty that does not have some aberration (oddness) about itself in proportions? forgot that old french quote, but i can tolerate art, no matter the cost

I mean, vore, wtf, but there are settings in which there are some humane culminalities

DeviantArt sucks
